How to use vermiculite when sowing:
- Moisten the vermiculite – but don’t make it soaking wet!
- A handy tip: Dip a sieve filled with vermiculite into a bowl of water and let it drain well.
- Fill a seed tray with a few centimeters of moist vermiculite.
- Gently press the seeds into the vermiculite and cover the tray with a lid or plastic to retain moisture.
For an ideal potting soil mix:
- Mix 1 part vermiculite with 3 parts potting soil. This creates a lighter, airier seed-starting medium where water and nutrients remain more accessible for your plants. Perfect for cultivating healthy seedlings!
